Both Zoolz and BigMIND have an internal compression engine that works during the backup process to speed up the upload, and to reduce the amount of bandwidth.

How does it work?

Our compression technology will internally compress the non-compressed files before uploading them to the Cloud. Once the data is uploaded, Zoolz/BigMIND will decompress them on the server-side, so they will be saved in their original format under the user’s account.

Zoolz and BigMIND use Zip (Deflate64) compression method. The compression ratio is usually around 40-50% for most files, but the ratio varies by file type, as some files will only be compressed by a ratio of 10-20%. This is mostly true for files that are already compressed like executable binary files for example.

Videos and music files are already in a compressed format, so our technology does not do any extra compression.
